It’s really important to put some thought into what you put into your body. Different foods have different post digestive effects on your body which is what may bring on discomfort in the form of constipation, nausea, gas, indigestion, bloating, acid reflux etc…

Reasons for gas and indigestion

  • eating too fast- eating too much
  • eating a lot of fatty food
  • poor sleep habits
  • drinking water during meals

Reasons for acid reflux

  • eating then immediately lying down
  • eating fatty foods
  • eating too much
  • eating acidic foods
  • food allergies
  • alcohol

Reasons for bloating

  • medications
  • fool allergies
  • periods or pregnancy
  • and everything above under gas & indigestion

10 things that can help you

  1. eat while sitting down on a table, what you don’t want todo is squish your guts
  2. eat at least 3 hours before bed to avoid acid reflux and if you struggle with it during the day, check your meals you could be having food sensitivities or eating way too many acidic foods
  3. spices, I promise you you can add spices to your meals. Natural herbs and roots such as ginger are great anti-inflammatory foods. That royco in your pantry, toss it. Now!
  4. avoid fatty foods and heavy proteins with your meals at night because they require a ton of energy to digest. You want to eat heavier meals for lunch because that is when your body is most active and more veggie based meals for your dinner
  5. try walking after your meals, it helps kickstart your digestive cycle
  6. drink water before you eat. Replace your cold drinks with warm water- avoid citrus fruits, grapes at night
  7. chew your food slowly and with intention. Remember digestion begins in the mouth. A lot of tummy conditions are actually a result of how we eat and not what we eat
  8. reduce your salt and sugar intake
  9. reduce high fiber foods into your meals such as broccoli, beans, lentils…
  10. lastly, I have the most sensitive stomach and acid reflux is something that gave me sleepless nights especially when the pandemic hit because my routine had changed significantly. I took so much gaviscon that it honestly felt daunting. No matter what I took, the acid reflux just kept getting worse. However, when I discovered celery juice I felt like I could live again. I know I say this all the time but for real Celery juice changed my life! If you haven’t already, I would encourage you to try celery juice consistently for 1 month and track the difference.
